Kangaroo Maths ... putting the bounce back into teaching!

 Key Stage 3

Schemes of work for the new secondary curriculum ... nearly

We are currently re-writing the Key Stage 3 schemes of work to align with the new secondary curriculum. There will be a total of five schemes to be drawn upon as part of three different pathways. The first three schemes are now available, and can be found below. The remaining two schemes will be written soon. Very soon. And then this page will be tidied up ... please bear with me.
Features of the new Key Stage 3 schemes of work include:
  • Differentiated objectives with a focus on progression in the learning of mathematics
  • Explicit MPA objectives with suggested activities for teaching them
  • Full coverage of the 'lines of progression' in the renewed secondary framework
  • Support objectives based on the renewed primary framework
  • References to a large amount of material available on www.kangaroomaths.com
  • References to suitable 'Standards Unit' resources
  • Links to appropriate Progression Maps

The old schemes of work, developed through the Herefordshire School Improvement Service, are still here though. They were designed to make use of some of the best free materials around, whilst also promoting some excellent commercial resources. Many thanks to the Gloucestershire Maths Advisory Team and Cornwall Education Development Service for their contributions. Full details of sources are listed here.

There are a huge number of links to resources you can access directly, but the schemes of work are MS Word documents so that you can modify and print them off if you want to. You will probably want to view the explanatory notes first.

Please note: you will (probably) need to be using Internet Explorer and Microsoft Word for the links to work correctly.
Schemes of work for Year 7 Springboard groups, and the continued intervention process throughout Year 8 and Year 9, are provided below. Many thanks to Marika Vernon for providing this resource.
