e-Resources
Other electronic-based resources are listed here - mostly spreadsheets or powerpoints. Many of these are now accessed through the relevant interactive scheme of work.
- Cumulative Frequency: A PowerPoint slideshow covering the essential points of this topic. Ideal for revision.
- Graphs and Charts: A basic graph-construction exercise that is designed to be placed on a network.
- Random Numbers: A random number generator. Have a go - it's quite good!
- Relative Frequency: Two interactive spreadsheets. The first simulates 100 rolls of 2 dice and compares the theory with the experiment; press F9 to roll again - different results each time. The second allows you to add in the results for 3 pupils doing the same experiment - discuss what happens!
- Statistics: A PowerPoint slideshow covering cumulative frequency, box plots and stem & leaf diagrams. Ideal for revision.
- Surveys: A PowerPoint slideshow to accompany a discussion about planning a survey. See p.249 of the 2001 Framework.
Paper Resources
Paper-based resources are listed here. Many of these are now accessed through the relevant interactive scheme of work.
- Analysing Statistics: Comparing statistics using averages and range
- Bivariate Data: Match the scatter diagram to its description
- Constructing Graphs: A matching pairs activity. Answers are here too.
- Correlation: Thinking about correlation without the use of scatter diagrams
- Histograms: If you have a SMART board, this introduction demonstrates the incorrect and correct approach to drawing histograms
- Probability: Several possibility spaces to be completed for the rolling of 2 dice.
- Relative Frequency: A simple experiment with dice
- Relative Frequency: Following another simple dice experiment, use Excel to investigate relative frequency
- Statistics: Rainfall statistics (no longer very) hot of the Norfolk presses
