Kangaroo Maths ... putting the bounce back into teaching!

 Ideas for use
Match up Maths is particularly suitable as a plenary or starter activity. The questions have been chosen to challenge common misconceptions, so it is best if you ask players why they chose things or why they are right or wrong.

Pupils have to find the matching pairs by uncovering them. (To make the activity a bit quicker, you can choose to 'Uncover Board' so they can see all the entries). If the pair they choose don't match, click again for another go and the cards are covered up again. If the pair do match then they are coloured in and remain visible. When all the pairs are found the colours flash for around 4 seconds. You can then click on 'Hide Colours' and ask them to write the pairs down - particularly useful for getting them to record their understanding! (Click on 'Show Colours' to see them again).

Alternatively you can click on 'Use as loop cards' and either display this page on screen or print them out. Pupils then have to find the pairs (perhaps cut them out like dominoes) ~ this is sometimes good preparation for then playing the game itself as they've already worked out the pairs.

You can either use the matchings provided (and save your comments on them on the INDEX page) or you can create your own games - this is a particularly good option for a plenary when you can type in the questions they've struggled with in the lessons, including their wrong answers!

On each topic there is an index page where you can make notes on each game - perhaps record which groups have done that, or any notes on questions worth asking.
